6. FAA Drone Certification
If you’re feeling particularly spunky, you can even get certified to fly an unmanned aircraft through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It takes a good amount of studying and knowledge of air space, but to be a pilot, you must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English (exceptions may be made if the person is unable to meet one of these requirements for a medical reason, such as hearing impairment)
- Be in a physical and mental condition to safely operate a small UAS
- Pass the initial aeronautical knowledge exam at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center’
Once you pass the application process and the test, certifications are valid for two years.
This was a great read! Invaluable information for me as I am definitely at a crossroads and in need of some additional, yet affordable, training to get my career back on track or break through to the next level professionally. Thanks for posting/putting this piece together.
