At its annual I/O developer conference in San Francisco, Google announced a fleet of new updates and initiatives, all steeped in machine learning and automation. After boasting over 2 billion active devices on Android, development teams presented a series of new features, like ordering food via text and the ability to identify flowers with your smartphone camera.

1. Google Lens
No, it’s not a smart contact lens…yet. Google’s big announcement, Google Lens, is basically a set of vision-based capabilities that understand what you’re looking at and can help you take an action based on it. So your phone can now “see”. Thanks to machine-learning and AI capabilities, you will now be able to point your phone at a flower, for example, and learn what kind of plant it is. More importantly, you’ll be able to take an image of a Wifi router’s barcode and get online immediately.
