Studio B on MGTV:
As a graduate student at Texas State University, I started a student-run television show. Working with passionate students from several different departments, and making several programming changes along the way, we finally came out with a really fun magazine-format television show called Studio B. In 2008, it won first place in the NBS Regional Conference, and by 2009 we had about 15 episodes.
Maker Fair:
While interning at SXSW Interactive, one of my jobs was to blog for events in the Austin area related to new media and technology. The Maker Faire was one of the most interesting programs I've been to, and while we were there, I shot some footage and got several interviews. The staff at Maker Faire posted it to their blog, and it was a really fun video to shoot. I'm sure you'll see why.
Live Stream of Gary Vaynerchuk:
Every year, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University produces a state-of-the-art conference called "Mass Communication Week," where industry leaders and cutting-edge journalists from across the nation speak to journalism students. As a graduate student in the program, I assisted with and have live-streamed several of the speakers. This presentation, given by Gary Vaynerchuk of WineLibrary.tv, was one of my favorite. Over 150 people tuned in for it.
What is Web 2.0?:
Partially inspired by "Rip: A Remix Manifesto," this video was for a project in my Digital Literacies class in graduate school. It explains the concept behind "Web 2.0." The main purpose of this video was to provide an example of how the Internet has allowed for more creative expression, and it explores the battle between art and copyright issues. Girl Talk's "Don't Stop" and "Hands in the Air" make up the soundtrack for this gem. Also for this class, I created my own "mash-up" of the song "My Adidas" by RUN DMC and "Notorious" by Duran Duran, which you can listen to here.
Heather Bullin Band:
I shot this video a couple of years ago with a Canon XL2 and edited it together using Final Cut Express. The performance features Heather Bullin and her band playing a song called "All There Is." It was recorded at the Fire Station Studios in San Marcos, TX. The clip aired on campus television show Studio B.
