Our final project will be on drug addictions. This will involve facts and stories from people who have actually struggled with the use of hard drugs and talking about how they have overcome their addictions. Our pages will include:

My final project will be about beer. I will give a brief history about beer, include information about breweries, beer styles, and I will have a comment section.

I will have a video slide show on the local breweries page. I would also like to post a few beer reviews on the “Beer knowledge page.” Possibly a few press releases from local breweries about new releases and more. I will let users leave reviews on beers and I will have a local breweries section that will pinpoint the users area code to the closest brewery to the user through google maps most likely. I will also allow users to take a beer knowledge survey.

While brainstorming with Katy, we both came to realization that we love food and drinks, so we thought it’d be a good idea to do a story on the wonderful local restaurants of San Marcos. We would take the time to go to a few of the local restaurants and interview the owner/managers on their establishment and see their history (1.), what draws their customers in/specials (2.), what makes their restaurant  a unique part of San Marcos (3.), and where they are located at and how to contact each place (4.) Page five would be mine and Katy’s contact info. To tell this story we would have interviews with the managers of each place be movies put into each section and photos of the establishments inside and people eating at them and enjoying themselves. On the location page we plan on having a Google map embedded with the binged location of each place we go to on it so that way they can interact and see each one.

The organization I will be covering is WWOOF.net. WWOOF stands for Willing Workers on Organic Farms. WWOOF is a global network that allows volunteers to help out ranchers and farmers in exchange for experience, mentoring, room and board, and fresh meals. Many of the farmers have their own hosting terms, and you can seek out which opportunity is best for you. There are a range of opportunities, from a family farm, to a private commercial garden.

I will be covering just the American site, but WWOOF has a site for many different developed and developing countries. Each individual site has their own practices to bring hosts and volunteers together, but the WWOOF organization as a whole works together to promote the same basic standards. This is a great way to save some money and gain an experience to remember while traveling the world. I chose this site because I am already a member and am interested in volunteering. I have yet to try out the WWOOF experience, but there are quite a few farms in an around the San Marcos area that I’d love to volunteer for in the future.

The website recently went under massive renovation. I’m happy to say this is a vast improvement compared to how the site was running before. The website’s color scheme consists of earth tones and neutrals, with a medium green and white for their logo. I will use the same color scheme because it coveys the idea of nature and organic. Aside from the homepage, I will have four pages: member experience, go global, how to use, and a feature on the farms in the surrounding San Marcos area. I’ll use inspiration from their site to build my version, as well as take some inspiration from the Whole Foods website to keep consistent with the theme of organic foods.

It was hard for me to some up with a topic, because there are so many things that I love. I wanted to find something that I would actually be passionate about. One of those things is: getting to know people.
While I was in New York on a business trip this summer, I learned of an Instagram account called Humans of New York. (http://www.humansofnewyork.com)

An anonymous person would stroll through the concrete jungle and talk to random people to find their story, or ask them a significant question about themselves. Afterwards they would add a picture to Instagram and put their dialog underneath. It was so inspiring to me and I love that they used social media this way. With New York being such a big city, there is no possible way you could meet them all, but by featuring a plethora of individuals on social media and telling a bit of their story, you feel like you are more in touch with the city.

I would like to do something similar for Texas State. Rather than just a few sentences about someone or a group of people, I’d like to give them paragraphs. A way that even the most unnoticed and yet most interesting of students can have a word.

I would like my color scheme to be my own take on the Texas State University colors, not so bland as maroon and gold but perhaps a combination of various shades of maroon and gold with other colors added in, because it will be unique, like the people I’m writing about.

I chose to create a website for Sigma Delta Lambdas annual Youth Summit event. Sigma Delta Lambdas philanthropy is at-risk youth, and they created Youth Summit in 2001 to motivate at-risk youth to pursue a higher education. Sigma Delta Lambda currently dies not have a website for this page and I believe it will be a good resource to have when Sigma Delta Lambda is trying to find funding and sponsors. The website will help prospect donors to have background information of the event and will also showcase past events and their success. Aside from the homepage, the website will have an about page, a past event page, a sponsors page and contact page. The event does not have a color scheme because each year the event has a different theme. I will create a color scheme that can be used for funding letters and parent letters.

I’m going to cover my sales and sports marketing internship at Emmis Austin Radio. I choose to cover this topic so I can use this website as a digital portfolio of my learned skill set. This organization already has a color scheme, primarily blue, with green and white in the logo as well. My website will look very similar to the Team RADIOactive website.

The topic I’m covering for my next site are San Antonio artists. I chose this topic because I had recently gone to an art show and met many artists of different styles and tastes. I’d like to branch out to other artists and give recognition to the ones that stand out to me.

I’m picking the color scheme, and I may stick with simple colors like black and white for a minimalist feel.

I like this site’s style, I don’t think I would go as far with the images, but I do like the simplicity.

I will be making a website celebrating The Art of Food. I will discuss new recipes, favorite foods and different food cultures. I will also include pictures of lots of food!

I chose this topic because food is very special to me. Not just because we eat it and it is delicious. But I really believe food can have a stronger impact on people than we give it credit for. Food is art and to make it is to be an artist. Food brings people together, it comforts, it reminds us of a memorable time in our lives.
