StreetStyleCulture

My final project will be over the newly mainstreamed culture of StreetStyle. It will revolve around finding the StreetStyle in the are (Austin / San Marcos ) and explaining to the common user the history behind this #movement. I will also talk to fashion majors and professors to get different angles on this topic.

My pages will include:

1) HOME [info about the webpage, the purpose of the webpage and info about why I chose this topic]

2) MODE [blog-style posts  with a breakdown of the clothing, idea behind it and links to social media]

3) MODE TIPS [a breakdown of weekly, or daily posts[articles] on why trends are a yes or a no, and where they came from]

4)BUY IT [this page will include links on images to different sites where similar items [from the posts] can be found and bought]

5) US [contact page & information about me and why This is relevant] I will use videos to add a background to the personal posts, maybe a close up to the look, accessories, shoes, etc. I will also use images as maps for the BUY IT page. There will be music playing in the background[this to put the user in the mood].  MAYBE ill include the option to have a narrated version of the article, so users can look at the images while listening to the description and story behind them instead of reading. I would like to create en environment similar to the one the website LOOKBOOK created.

I will include a comment section after each post, article or entry. As long as a weekly poll on certain trends, ideas or local features on people, places with cool style to be featured on the website. Also i would like to incorporate a forum where users can engage with me or other users to share ideas, style tips or another discussion revolving around street style.

FMA: Fashion Merchandising Association

I am a member and and officer for the Fashion Merchandising Association that’s why I chose to create a website for them. The organization just underwent a makeover per say and a new website would do a lot for us right now. Besides the home page, I will include an events page with info about the events the organization hosts and volunteers in, including galleries and maybe videos. Also there will be an officers page, organization contact page, a schedule page and  also a blog page.

The logo for the organization is aqua, black and white. The logo is a circle with the organization’s initials inside the shape. I will be using those same colors for the website possibly.

I want the website to look like Gwyneth Paltrow’s famous Goop . I like this website because it is simple, easy to navigate and super stylish without being lavish and over the top.

V Magazine

From V-Magazine Archive

From V-Magazine Archive

The array of interests that I truly enjoy are, sincerely, cliche. Many websites aim to provide a balanced combination of these interests, but no one does it better than V Magazine. Although there is something very special about flipping through a printed version of this glossy, their online content is that rare but perfect combination of music, art, fashion and celebrities. Although many websites have similar content, V Magazine creates a chic environment to deliver it.

The main reason that I love this website is their content and the way it’s presented to the user. The modern -almost exclusively millennial- theme of the website is refreshing. It is extremely easy to navigate and it is an amazing source for yet to be discovered musicians and artistes. I’d have to say that V Magazine is my number one source for new music.

One thing that is extremely cool is the archive of past issues. I love that I’m able to go back in time with just one click. The website is also social media friendly, allowing users to share, like, tweet, etc content as they please, this is definitely one of my favorite and most used features.

One thing that I would change or modify is the Tumblr-ish look of the Home page, although it is easy to scroll down and find content a more sophisticated / editorial look would vamp up the website, I think. Aside from that V Magazine Online is heaven for pop culture lovers like myself.
