Our final project will be on how the internet has influenced and changed so much in our world. We got the idea from a book called “The World is Flat.”  In this book the author wrote about many events that contributed to evening out the playing field around the world. It mentioned how the person sitting next to you, or the person in a different city is no longer your only competition. Your competition could easily be someone in India. Our group decided to write on how technology has created bigger competition for businesses, gamers, and dating, and how it has changed the way we do so many things.

Our first page, the home page, will give information about the concept and briefly introduce each page. Our second page will cover the business aspect and how it has changed. The third page will be over gaming and how much it has changed since Pac-Man and the first game systems. Our fourth page will be over social media and how much easier it has become to find and connect with people, and our final page will be over online dating. The online dating page which will cover how the internet has changed dating.

We will interview gamers and people who use online dating sites to incorporate video.

I chose to create a website for Sigma Delta Lambdas annual Youth Summit event. Sigma Delta Lambdas philanthropy is at-risk youth, and they created Youth Summit in 2001 to motivate at-risk youth to pursue a higher education. Sigma Delta Lambda currently dies not have a website for this page and I believe it will be a good resource to have when Sigma Delta Lambda is trying to find funding and sponsors. The website will help prospect donors to have background information of the event and will also showcase past events and their success. Aside from the homepage, the website will have an about page, a past event page, a sponsors page and contact page. The event does not have a color scheme because each year the event has a different theme. I will create a color scheme that can be used for funding letters and parent letters.

I love Twitter, and I visit the site countless times throughout the day. I visit the site because of the content that is available. I follow Twitter accounts that tweet information that keep me informed on the things I’m interested in. Through Twitter I can find out breaking news or the latest Hollywood gossip. I can also read motivational quotes and get tips on healthy eating. The home page of Twitter displays the tweets of the accounts you follow and the trending topics. This makes it simple for the user to navigate the site by not having too much content on one page. The only thing I would change on Twitter would be how your followers or the people you are following are displayed. I would give users the option to display their followers by alphabetical order as an easier way to search for a follower.
